Blush Pink Dress in Paris, France

I usually don’t like pink dresses, but this dress immediately caught my attention when I first saw it on ShopBlueDistrict.com. What caught my attention was the details and cut. This maxi pink lace dress has multiple lace layers with refined crochet features on the shoulders and waist. The back of the dress is entirely transparent with small floral details that flow across the back.  Lastly, the inner layer embraces a solid mini skirt with a long outer layer of lace, faintly revealing the delicate legs.

I love this pink lace dress so much because of its charming composition, subtly sensual cuts, and elegant hue. You can wear it formally or as an evening dress. If you’re looking for dresses for weddings, this can also be worn. It’s such a great dress to have in the closet.

The Struggles of Shooting in Paris

I wore this romantic blush pink dress during my visit to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, aka Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, a Roman Catholic church. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris was built in 1888. Unfortunately, the team and I couldn’t shoot in front of the beautiful landmark since it was too crowded. We walked around the famous Roman Catholic Church and found beautifully hidden alleyways with charming doors and greenery. I felt like I was on set for an old classic movie.

As you look through all of the photos I took wearing the pink lace dress, you can see that in some photos I am wearing black boots and in others, I am wearing white mules (lol). I started taking photos in the black heels but unfortunately, the stiletto was too small for the uneven bricked walkways of Paris (you can read about my first perspective here). I almost fell over while walking! It was so bad that I had to hold one of the photographer’s arm. Finally, I decided to switch out my heels for flat white mules. Luckily both shoe styles matched with the pink lace dress. The extraordinary feeling of relief from the constriction of heels literally made me skip down the alleyway. The team laughed either because I was relieved or because they didn’t have to watch me struggle through the walkway.

My First Time in Europe: Traveling Solo to Paris

By Posted on 4 Comments 2 min read 3453 views

Traveling Solo to Paris, France

“You’re traveling solo to Paris? You’re crazy” is a response I got from one of my friends who I was chatting with during our catch-up brunches in Los Angeles. As I sipped on my hot black coffee, I told her it was something I had to do. To simply go. Why? There’s something about traveling alone that fulfills me in all aspects. When I travel alone, I feel like my soul brightens from all of the excitement. Going to a foreign country is entering another world. The sounds, smell, air, sky, lighting, are all so different to me. That’s why traveling solo to Paris for the first time was so important to me.

Preparing for My Trip

I do admit, at first I was a bit nervous traveling solo to Paris so naturally, I prepared myself as best as I could. I watched countless YouTube videos of “10 Things To Do in Paris” or “What Not to Do While Traveling Solo to Paris”, etc… Then I learned simple French phrases for two reasons. The first reason to learn some French was obviously for survival in case of a dreadful situation. Then the other reason would be for respecting the French and their culture. I believe that whatever country you visit, you should always learn a few phrases to show respect for those in the country.

Traces of History…

Paris was like a dream of the old world. The streets and sidewalks were made of small bricks (which was difficult to walk in heels) and the architecture was fascinating because it felt like the buildings were proudly standing in representation of France’s rich history; it seemed like France had left traces of its past throughout every corner and narrow alleyway. I couldn’t help but wonder what it was like 100+ years ago while passing small shops and countless cafes…

White Floral Dress by Zilea from Italy

Zilea – the Italian Luxury Brand

Yuki Bomb wearing Luxury Italian Brand - Zilea - Xilea

Recently founded in 2017, Zilea is an impressive Italian luxury brand.

Zilea is an airy line of gowns and dresses that are graceful and worldly are created by using the greatest quality of silk. Zilea’s delicate pieces are made in Como, Italy, where it is known for the Museo Didattico della Seta (Educational Silk Museum).  This educational museum traces the history of this city’s silk industry.

Intricate Designs

To illustrate by the brand itself, “A classic Zilea dress drapes with feather-light delicacy around the body, covering only what needs to be covered … Intricately drawn motifs of exotic birds and flowers are finely inscribed on the delicate silk, evoking traditional Asian attire yet firmly rooted in Italian craftsmanship.”

So, due to its design which is similar to a kimono, this Zilea dress I am wearing is a very distinct piece. This Zilea dress wraps around the body, fitting perfectly on the midriff and accentuating the waist and hips. Because of the premium silk, the feel of this mini dress with long sleeves felt unreal against my skin. It easily flowed against the late summer breeze. And thus, I felt feminine, comfortable and beautiful.

How I Wore It

Considering the intricate designs, I paired this dress with simple white heeled mules. I thought simple shoes would be best to better complement the work of art by Zilea. Similarly, you can also pair this elegant dress with white or blue flats or whichever colored heels you like. Though, I would prefer heels with this dress since it will help accentuate the curves.

Lastly, you can wear this Zilea dress I am wearing casually or somewhere special like a date night, brunch, or reunion. On the day I wore this dress, I spent time with friends including one of my favorite photographers, Ryan Chua. Ryan and I decided to enjoy Santa Monica after a couple of events. It was a fun and memorable day.

My Thoughts During Beautycon LA 2018

Beautycon LA 2018

Beautycon LA 2018 Yuki Bomb

During Beautycon LA this year, I was honored to be welcomed onto the infamous pink carpet of Beautycon. On the pink carpet, I was interviewed a few times and the question that stuck with me the most is, “what does beauty mean to you”. I was so nervous that I actually cannot remember what I said and probably said something ridiculous, but I was truly thinking along other lines.

What is Beauty?

Beautycon LA 2018 Yukibomb Amore Pacific Booth

When doing a Google search on the definition of “beauty”, here is the first definition that is provided:

beau·ty

ˈbyo͞odē/

noun

  1. a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.

When you look at the definition, isn’t “pleasing aesthetic senses” subjective since everyone has personal preferences? The definition that Google provided feels like a trap into conformity. To me, beauty should strike an emotion or sensation; Beauty doesn’t have to be pretty or ugly, but it should stimulate the mind and evoke feelings. These feelings can be sadness, love, acceptance, connection or relation.

What is true beauty?

Yuki Bomb at Beautycon LA 2018

I remember once attending an amazing orchestra in Costa Mesa, California. During the orchestra, a very talented guitarist Pablo Villegas, made me awe in admiration while tears had fallen down my cheeks and soaked my handkerchief. I was overwhelmed by what the music held: mixed emotions drifting and echoing throughout the hall and was embraced by its wonderful composition of the experiences of the soul. To me, that feeling of connection with the artist is one of the many true forms of beauty…

Other than the interviews on the pink carpet, I really enjoyed my time at Beautycon La. What is special about Beautycon LA is that you get to meet brands and other influencers directly and see the human side of each company or brand.

Final Thoughts…

@purewow @blinkbeauty @yukibomb during Beautycon LA 2018

For my last thoughts, I cannot believe I let 8 months pass without updating myself on my very own website. I am proud to be back (again) with my thoughts on beauty and Beautycon LA. Instagram was the only social platform that I was active on during my absence on this site.  Although it connected me with others, I felt pressure on Instagram, which is why I am here now. This past year, I went through many changes mentally.

I feel like I was becoming more of a woman with certain needs such as settling down, wanting to build real relationships, relationships with others where my family would know their names, and to give myself more “me time”. I wanted to become more connected with myself.  I was longing to listen to my mind, body, heart, and soul. Here is a new beginning and I can’t wait to share it. Thank you for reading. <3

All Black Outfit – Styling Over the Knee Boots

All Black with Over the Knee Boots

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is already next week! Time flies too fast when you’re juggling work, family, and friends (I know I’m not the only one!). Although autumn started months ago, California is becoming chilly as of recently so I can finally enjoy this chilly season. I rarely wear over the knee boots, but this pair is my current favorite.

I used to hesitate with wearing over the knee boots. Crazy, right? For some reason, I didn’t feel confident in them. I was always particular on over the knee boots since it can be easy to have the “Pretty Woman” hooker look…

As of lately, I’ve been wearing a lot of black… specifically all black outfits. Then I had an “ah-hah” moment and this outfit came together in less than two minutes. This all black outfit consists of a denim jacket by @trenddirector, basic turtleneck, denim skirt by Shein, and black over the knee boots by @fashion_youup/ Chinese Laundry). Lastly, I decided on finalizing the look with ZeroUV frames and mid-waist belt by B-Low The Belt. I love the turtleneck under the denim jacket since it reminds me of a masculine 60s fashion vibe. In this outfit, the over the knee boots made this outfit sexier because of the peak of skin on the thighs. It’s just a little, but just enough.

Quick update on my life:

I was a panelist at StyleCon and spoke alongside with 3 other beautiful successful women on the main stage. They were so empowered and inspiring that I felt a little intimidated by them. Although I was sweating from my nervousness, I was able to pull through and send out my message to the audience which made me happy. That day, I got to meet many fans and other fashion/beauty creators. Meeting people within the same community can really inspire you to do more. It’s just a beautiful thing to be able to meet others who have similar passions as you. StyleCon this year was very rewarding and gave me more motivation to create. Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions or comments! <3
